I read this book during the editing process and as sweet as it is, it kept me up at night. Ghost stories tend to do that. If you love sweet romance with a touch of mystery and suspense (not to mention creepy messages from dead people), you’re going to love Katie Mettner’s Someone in the Water.

Someone in the Water

Spring Lewis knew death. As a nurse in the ICU, she had experienced more than her fair share of it. The difference was, unlike most people, she was acutely aware not everyone who died stayed in the afterlife, including the eight kids calling to her from the river.

Vince Roundtree had devoted his life to one thing, music. As the tuba professor at the University of Hedgeford, he spent his days shaping the lives of young people, and his nights walking along the river on a journey to find true peace.

On a rainy spring evening, in a darkened Hedgeford Park, their paths intersected in an unexpected way. Their chance meeting set them on a path of forgiveness, understanding, acceptance, and love. Blinded by their rose-colored glasses, neither could foresee how much they’d need all of those, and more, to survive what was to come.

A mother’s anguish, and eight determined souls, convince Spring to break her silence about the people in the water. While the scandal burns, death comes calling, and it will be up to Vince to save her from certain death before time runs out.

My Review

What a wild ride! This book takes you on an amazing journey full of emotional and scary turns. I wasn’t sure what to expect next. Most nights, after reading this, I had trouble sleeping due to the creepy darkness of my bedroom. Haha!
Katie pulls you in with the beautiful cover and then she throws you into a world of murder and dead people. Don’t be fooled though, there’s plenty of sweetness too, but not before you work your way through several encounters with dead people who want Spring to know their story.
Being a nurse and a medium, Spring sees strangeness daily and on every level. She’s decided on a solitary life of secrecy until a chance encounter in the park, late one night after work, changes everything. Now with love in her life, she’s decided to open herself up and share her life with the people who care about her the most. Little does she know, sharing her secrets puts her in danger and in the line of a madman who wants to see her dead.
****Spoiler Alert********
In the end, Spring gets the life she deserves, a murderer is dead, a child’s life has been saved, and the parents of several young people can rest easy knowing their children didn’t die at their own hands. –Yep, there’s a lot going on, but you’ll love every second of it.
Someone in the water made me fall in love, laugh, cry and shiver in anticipation all while forcing me to sleep with the light on. As I said, this book has something for everyone. It’s a solid 5-star read that won’t disappoint!

You can find Someone in the Water for 99-cents on Amazon! It’s free with Kindle Unlimited too!
